About the Judges:
KEVIN EASTMAN: Kevin Eastman began drawing at a very young age copying children’s books and reading comics. In 1982, he met Peter Laird and the partnership studio; Mirage Studios was formed. Eastman doodled a new character he dubbed a “Ninja Turtle” to make Laird laugh—several sketches a final drawing of four characters later “Eastman and Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” had officially entered the universe! The first issue sold out of its 3000 copies overnight and quickly became a fan favorite. Catching the eye of Merchandising Agents and Hollywood Producers, Eastman and Laird maintained full control of their creations while guiding them through Toy Licensing, TV Series adaptation, as well as Feature Film exploitation, and by 1989 the TMNT’s were number one in all three categories.
Thanks to “THE BEST FANS ON THE ENTIRE PLANET!” according to Eastman, after 28 amazing years the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles STILL continue to find their way into the hearts and imaginations of kids, large and small.
Currently spending most of his creative time working on a new TMNT series with IDW Publishing, and editing Heavy Metal, he recently partnered with Writer, Director; Producer Robert Rodriguez to develop a new series of Heavy Metal inspired Animated and Live Action films. Eastman resides in San Diego with wife Courtney (aka First Lady of the Turtles), son Shane, as well as a few insane Dachshunds.
CAM CLARKE: Cam started his career as a child actor in the mid 60's starring on the variety show "the king family" with whom he performed thru the early 80's As a voice over artist he has appeared in numerous cartoon shows and video games. Most notably 'Leonardo' in the original TMNT. Other roles include 'max and yellow dancer in ROBOTECH, der fledermaus in THE TICK, kaneida in AKIRA, Freddy in BARNYARD. Other shows include CLIFFORD, MONSTER HIGH, WILD GRINDERS, HE-MAN, DENVER THE LAST DINOSAUR and many more. Most memorial game role is "liquid snake" in METAL GEAR SOLID.
TOWNSEND COLEMAN: Is a veteran Hollywood voice-actor, perhaps best known for his work in animation and network TV promos. As the voice of Michelangelo on the original TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, the title character on THE TICK, and Sentinel Prime on TRANSFORMERS: ANIMATED, to 16 years as the voice of NBC's "MUST SEE TV" and "TONIGHT SHOW with JAY LENO" promos, Townsend continues to weasel his way out of getting a ‘real’ job by voicing the daily promos for LIVE! WITH KELLY AND MICHAEL, as well as promos for ABC, THE HUB, ABC FAMILY, and JUDGE JUDY.
HOT TOPIC: It all started in 1988. A ton of teen retail accessory stores filled the malls, but there wasn't a cool music-inspired accessory store for both guys and girls. Then came Hot Topic. As 1990 rolled around, adding apparel seemed like a no-brainer. What better way than to add the ultimate music fan essential - band tees. Imagine how our customers flipped when they were able to get Bauhaus, The Cure, TSOL, and Depeche Mode T-shirts at Hot Topic. Within a year, we had about 50 different band titles, along with rock-inspired clothing lines like Lip Service and Serious. As we expanded, we discovered that customers were equally drawn to the underground cartoon, cult movie, and comic book scenes. It was a unique culture fans could call their own, so we brought the world of South Park, Care Bears, Superman, SpongeBob and tons of other pop icons into our Hot Topic stores.
DOs & DON'Ts
1. Don't: Try not to use the TMNT logo. We want to keep this within the RETRO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe, so let's submit designs that would be within that universe =)
2. Do: Use logos that can be found within the show! (Please keep it from Retro / Original TMNT though! - NO new series!)
3. Don't: Submit similar versions of the same design. Sometimes people submit the same design, but with small changes. This will only divide your votes and hurt your chances of winning.
4. Do: Make something original. Research to make sure your idea isn't already out there.
5. Don't use any copyrighted or inappropriate materials. They will NOT get approved.
6. Don't: Submit images or pictures from the show. Please create your own art! Please also DO NOT CREATE your own characters for the show. Only Characters from within the show are allowed.
7. Do: Ask questions!! But please review our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) first BEFORE you email. Most likely, your question can be immediately answered through there instead.
FAQ - To see our full set of Contest FAQ, please click here.
Q: I want to read the full set of rules and guidelines before I start drawing or submitting. Where can I get that?
A: Please go to "Submit Your Design". At the bottom of that page, there will be a hyperlink in Teal and bolded labeled as TOS. Click that for the FULL SET of rules. We highly advise contestants to read through that BEFORE they submit. =)
Q: How many designs can I submit?
A: You may submit up to 5 entries per person
Q: What file format do you accept?
A: All entries must be in one of the following file formats: GIF/PNG/JPG
Q: Is it ok for me to promote my designs to people I know to come and help rate my designs?
A: We encourage every artist submitting to the contest to promote themselves and their designs to friends, family and followers. Through our experience we have found that more ratings help determine what the fans really want as your winners! So please promote yourselves!
Q: It’s been more than 2 business days and I don't see my design on the site. What’s going on with my design?
A: We review every submission we get before they are made live for viewing and rating. We sometimes reject designs for obvious reasons. If you’ve done any of the following don’t even bother asking why your design was rejected.
- Your design has inappropriate materials.
- Your design uses other copy righted material. This means you are using other people’s intellectual property in your design you do not have the right to. NO MASH UPS!!!
- It’s not a design. A direct photograph or a scribble you just drew on a piece of paper is not considered a shirt design.
Q: I see people cheating. What should I do?
A: Please email [email protected] detailing what you are suspecting. More details you can give the better we can make our decision.
Q: I need help with my design / I entered in something incorrect / I pushed submit too fast / etc, can you help me?
A: YES!!! But before you email us at [email protected], please have the below info ready. We have multiple contests going on at once, and it's hard to help you when all you say is "I need help on my entry". Please advise: NAME OF CONTEST / NAME OF YOUR DESIGN / NAME OR EMAIL IT WAS SUBMITTED UNDER when emailing us. That will greatly help. Please also detail what you need, and I can correct for you. Without the information above, it is not helpful to us to help you out. Right?
Now go on and create those beautiful designs! We can't wait to see them =)
